This afternoon, after lunch, I set out for a 45-minute health walk through my urban neighbourhood in Hoofddorp (NL). The streets were still a little quieter then normal. Summer holiday is still 2 weeks. There was a little breeze, but the wind felt warm. The kind of weather that makes you slow your pace to preserve your energy.
Somewhere between the rows of brick houses and the small patches of green, my mind began sketching ideas for my next series of artworks: The Water’s Edge. I could almost see it: Shimmering reflections, rippling lines and that quiet space where land meets water.
By the time I looped back home, I felt both lighter in step and fuller in thought. A simple walk had turned into a moment of clarity, proof that sometimes the best inspiration is waiting just around the corner … carried to you on a warm summer breeze.
