My husband and I spent a wonderful day in Gouda (NL), soaking up the summer sunshine. The city welcomed us with its charm and history and we decided to explore it in a very special way … On a narrowboat that once carried peat and was originally horse-drawn. Gliding slowly along the canals, we passed rows of old canal houses, each one with its own story to tell. Our guide shared bits of Gouda’s rich past, which made the journey feel like a step back in time.
Afterwards we wandered through the city on foot, enjoying the lively streets and pausing at little boutiques along the way. Gouda is full of surprises, with it’s quirky shops, hidden corners and laid-back summer atmosphere. It made strolling around such a pleasure.
Before heading home, we found a beautiful large mineral crystal in one of the shops. It felt like the perfect keepsake to remember the day.
